So I'm gonna be changing it up a bit for this post. I will be analyzing a commercial for the bands For Today and War of Ages that aired on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. This advertisement grabbed my attention because i like both of the bands in it, but i don't think it would be that attention grabbing if someone had no idea who the bands were. There also isn't a lot of creativity in it as all they did was put two music videos together and put some text on top. One thing this ad does do well though is shows what the product is versus just telling what it is, which is a far more effective technique.
This ad appeals to the pathos reason. It draws your emotions in with the music and makes you want to get the Cd's because you like the sound of the music and the way it makes you feel. Since there is no speaking and there isn't really any "logic" involved then it has to be of the pathos reasoning.
One of the only buzzwords this commercial uses would be when they say that the album is "in stores now". Some of the colors this commercial uses are black, red and orange. These colors give the feeling of the product bringing you passion, excitement, energy, power, style and underground.
This commercial a few different gimmicks and techniques. Image advertising is one of the biggest techniques as the bands/commercial colors are trying to portray the image that goes along with the underground metal/hardcore scene. This ad also uses the technique of omission as they never tell you how much the album's cost or any other information, just what they are and where you can buy them.
